Invisible sidechaining for Kick and Bass Bliss
You may have heard of sidechain compression — a popular production technique where the audio signal from one track is routed to control the compressor on another. This allows the incoming signal to dictate the compression, dynamically reducing peaks and allowing the two elements to sonically co-exist. This technique is particularly useful for controlling the bottom end and getting kicks and basslines working well together.
In this video, Cableguys take the process further by exploring a more subtle variation that focuses on compressing just specific frequencies rather than the entire signal. A technique he likes to call Invisible sidechaining.
