Antidote Audio recently identified a neat little trick used by Skrillex to enhance the impact of his snares. He noticed that Skrillex often incorporates reversed sounds that abruptly stop just as the snare’s transient hits. This technique helps to accent the snares punch adding a heightened sense of anticipation.

In this video short Sam Antidote recreates this technique by creating a building hi-hat fill as well as a high-pitched synth shot that when reversed and transpositioned has a hint of wood pigeon to it.

The resulting effect does sound pretty cool though and certainly adds an extra dimension to the snare.

So, why not see what builds and reversed elements you can insert in front of your snares?
