This week, Lunacy Audio released the newest effect in their sonic playground, a new modulation effect called Haze, which promises to help you create ethereal atmospheres, rich textures, and immersive new spaces.

What is Haze?

Haze is the newest effect in Lunacy Audio’s growing range of effects plugins, designed for all music makers on macOS and Windows, offering a combination of chorus, phasing, reverb, and dispersion effects to create immersive, atmospheric, and ethereal soundscapes and textures. Haze can be run as a standalone plugin and is compatible with their effect rack ‘Beam’, which provides cool features such as parallel processing.

Key Features

  • Diffusion Network: Customise the reverb effect using three intuitive controls:
    • Decay: Controls the duration of the reverb. Use smaller values for a shorter reverb tail or larger values to create large reverb-like spaces.
    • Density: Controls the reverb space. Change the density of the chorus network, creating a lush chorus-like effect at higher values.
    • Spread: Controls the stereo width. Use low values to create denser clusters of delay or wide delay lines with higher values.
  • Curated Motion: Shape the character and movement of the reverb.
    • Scale: Sets the size and tone – from tight metallic textures to vast, open spaces
    • Motion: Introduces rich modulation and delay, warping the signal with tape-like flutter and evolving harmonics.
  • Spectral Dispersion: For an even denser, dreamier sound, activate the Smear filter.
    • Frequency: To tune its center point
    • Q: To boost resonance for added intensity and texture.
