Every month, when a new plugin drops as is the case with their latest Acid Synth VST, the last free instrument is removed.

Crow Hill Vaults Collection

This beautifully presented collection of instruments perfectly reflects the passion of the people behind them. Their aesthetically pleasing GUI and simple layout mean you won’t be overwhelmed and can just focus on the main job of creating music.

All of the instruments feature an identical layout with 2 prominant central knobs. These knobs are often named Timbre and Distance, or tailored to the instrument’s character requirements (e.g., Filter & Shimmer on Shimmer Guitar; Cutoff & Resonance on Acid Synth).

As well as the 2 central knobs underneath you have 4 smaller dials that act as effects macros.
The 4 knobs generally effect: Modulation, Echo, Splosh (reverb) and a more context-specific controls such as balance or sub.

The great thing about this collection of instruments is that once you’re comfortable with one Vault plugin, the rest feel instantly familiar due to the uniform control layout. So let’s take a look at the current roster of 6 free plugins

• ACID SYNTH (NEW)
  Inspired by the classic Roland TB303 this instrument doesn’t attempt to accurately emulate it. Rather, give a knowing nod to its iconic characteristics. One thing is for sure, it packs some punch but also hits those low-frequency sweet spots.
• SOLO BODHRAN
  For those of you wondering what on earth a Bodhran is, it’s a type of celtic frame drum. Solo Bodhran is a detailed multisampled loop-based instrument, recorded with close and room mics. It offers multiple articulations, including edge hits, centre strikes, and rolls. It’s ideal for both traditional scoring and modern rhythmic layering.
• AMP BASS
  A sampled electric bass processed through analogue amp and cabinet chains to capture warmth and saturation. Designed for low-end support with added harmonic content, it’s suitable for genres ranging from rock to cinematic underscore.
• WAVERING CHOIR
  A vocal texture instrument based on layered sustained choir samples with pitch and modulation drift. It’s designed for creating evolving pads and atmospheric backgrounds rather than lead vocal lines or lyrical phrases.
• MALLET PIANO
  This hybrid instrument combines piano samples with soft mallet-style attack characteristics, producing a percussive yet resonant tone. It offers an alternative timbre for underscores, minimal piano compositions, or experimental layering.
