Huge news and a big win for DJs – the gear wars just got a little friendlier. AlphaTheta (Rekordbox and Pioneer) has teamed up with Algoriddim (djay) and Native Instruments (Traktor) to launch OneLibrary, a new standard for music libraries that finally allows DJs to break free from ecosystem lock-in and seamlessly transition between systems.

Why this changes the game for DJs

Until now, DJs have been held captive in one ecosystem. Exporting your cue points, beat grids, and playlists – all worked fine until you wanted to switch your software or hardware. OneLibrary solves that through the standardisation of key DJ performance data, such as playlists, cue points, and beat grids, so that your collection can follow you, whether you’re using djay Pro, Traktor, or playing USB on Pioneer/AlphaTheta/Rekordbox gear. It’s great news if you’re a DJ that bounces between a variety of setups, from laptops, club booths, to all-in-one controllers.

What works now with OneLibrary

  • Export music library from djay Pro and use it on compatible hardware and software.
  • Compatible hardware: Pioneer CDJ-3000X, CDJ-3000 (firmware 3.30+), XDJ-AZ, OPUS-QUAD, OMNIS-DUO.
  • Compatible software: djay Pro supports it right now.
  • The export carries essential performance data: playlists, cue points, beat-grids, waveform info.

Things to look out for

  • Support for Traktor Pro 4 and Traktor Play is coming soon.
  • Full cross-software compatibility (e.g., exporting from one brand and importing into another) isn’t fully guaranteed.
  • Some major software brands are not yet full onboard (e.g., Serato).
