Soundtheory focus their parallel processing plugin
Soundtheory just dropped Kraftur Focus and rolled out an upgrade to the original Kraftur, packing in new features based on user feedback. Both updates are all about refining the workflow and pushing the audio tools to the next level.
What is Kraftur?
Kraftur is a multiband clipper plugin, used for loudness enhancement and saturation. While Kraftur was designed as a mastering tool for increasing the loudness of your mix while preserving the original integrity of its dynamics, Kraftur is just as effective at adding frequency-specific saturation to individual elements within your mix, such as drums or vocals.
The intuitive UI provides a slick workflow that allows for total control over the processing, while providing multiple visualisation methods to offer insight into what’s happening to your signal.
Kraftur Features

- Minimized aliasing and intermodulation distortion due to unique oversampling and DSP algorithms.
- An innovative triangular blend control that allows the user to mix seamlessly between single and multi-band processing.
- Fine tuning of the distortion curve, which allows the sound to be more punchy or more dense.
- A state-of-the-art MATCH mode that dynamically compensates for loudness, so you can hear what Kraftur is adding to your sound without fooling your ears.
- Three frequency bands, with control over their individual distortion curves and their frequency ranges.
- Soundtheory’s new VisionTone colour rendering pipeline based on human perception.
What is Kraftur Focus?
Soundtheory worked on Kraftur Focus in reaction to user requests for phase compensation. The original Kraftur uses minimum phase filters to increase headroom without messing with signal energy, whereas Kraftur Focus realigns phase after saturation using a hybrid approach. This makes it perfect for parallel processing, so using it as a send effect is possible without issues.
Both Kraftur and Kraftur Focus now come with fresh upgrades aimed at improving workflow and usability. You get detailed metering with real-time stats like RMS, peak, peak hold, and Crest Factor Reduction for both input and output. There’s also a new option to mimic band shifting in single-band mode by tweaking the transfer curve – great for more precise tone shaping.
