{"id":2771,"date":"2021-10-08T10:21:31","date_gmt":"2021-10-08T10:21:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mixxed.com\/blog\/?p=2771"},"modified":"2022-09-22T11:21:46","modified_gmt":"2022-09-22T11:21:46","slug":"independent-artists-could-gain-from-soundon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/create.routenote.com\/blog\/independent-artists-could-gain-from-soundon\/","title":{"rendered":"SoundOn: Independent Artists Could Gain From TikTok\u2019s New Direct-Upload Service"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Undiscovered <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mixxed.com\/blog\/spotifys-concerts-great-for-artists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">artists<\/a><\/span><\/strong> will be overjoyed to learn that the upcoming platform SoundOn by TikTok will be a separate entrance to be discovered that&#8217;s made for them.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview with <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/tiktok-is-evolving-into-a-very-different-kind-of-music-streaming-giant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Music Business Worldwide<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, TikTok\u2019s Global Head Of Music, Ole Obermann, claimed it will make it easier for indie artists to get their music on the platform and get discovered, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.musictech.net\/news\/industry\/indie-artists-stand-to-gain-with-tiktoks-new-direct-upload-service-soundon\/?utm_source=feedly&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=indie-artists-stand-to-gain-with-tiktoks-new-direct-upload-service-soundon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">MusicTech <\/span><\/a><\/strong>reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve heard from many artists that when they upload music to <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mixxed.com\/blog\/why-does-tiktok-allow-copyrighted-music\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TikTok<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, they feel like they\u2019re walking into a venue but they can\u2019t find their way to the stage \u2013 to define their <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mixxed.com\/blog\/content-marketing-for-musicians\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">audience<\/a><\/span><\/strong> \u2013 because the platform\u2019s just so vast,\u201d he said. \u201cSoundOn is like a well-lit entryway to that stage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThrough SoundOn we\u2019re going to organise the ecosystem of unsigned artists in a way that doesn\u2019t exist today and has never existed before. I think that\u2019s going to make it easier for artists to find their fans. And then for labels and publishers to find those artists. The [industry\u2019s] entire A&amp;R process, I think, will become more efficient off the back of it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ve seen a giant boom in live streams over the past year or two, and TikTok has announced plans to get involved and compete with the likes of Twitch by monetising live streams in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just recently, TikTok held its Lotte Duty Free Concert &#8211; a live stream concert in Korea where K-Pop star bands such as Twice and BTS performed. The stream gained had 600,000 viewers&#8230; that&#8217;s a lot of ears!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Access was only granted to users with an admission code that they gained via registering for a \u2018Lotte Duty Free\u2019 membership through the brand\u2019s official website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe recently did a few tests in the US where we worked with big-name artists to enable them to sell physical products off of their TikTok accounts. The numbers were massive,\u201d Obermann said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obermann also emphasised that TikTok\u2019s recently released HeadStream. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HeadStream caters towards major labels and allows artists to premiere their new releases, as well as tease music snippets and interact with fans in its live chat features! This allows them to be interviewed about their music and creative process! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 30-minute interactive live series has been a reasonable success with artists such as Demi Lovato and J Balvin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their HeadStream drew 450,000 unique viewers to their page&#8230; I don&#8217;t know about you, but think these services are racking up some big numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Undiscovered artists need to be posting as much content and making as much music as they can.
