You’ve heard of talk boxes<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, now let’s talk about Vocal Designer by Roland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This technology features in Roland\u2019s VP<\/strong> and V-Synth keyboards<\/strong>. But now Roland has taken the idea to new heights and are featuring it in their Jupiter-X<\/strong> and XM synthesizers<\/strong>, reports gearnews.com<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Vocal Designer, we can add the characteristics of your voice to the sounds you’re creating and performing on your synthesizer. This gives us the power to create a lot of customization opportunities that allow us to create unique ones, like with a v<\/a>ocoder<\/a><\/span><\/strong> or FM synthesis<\/a><\/span><\/strong>! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Included are 26 vocal synthesis algorithms. As well as all-new sounds, we also have access to a plethora of classic vocoder tones, such as choirs, ensembles, robots, and more from Roland\u2019s VP<\/strong> series. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But our voice isn’t the only modulator signal we can input to the synth (carrier) signal. We can use any analog audio or USB input as the modulator! We can use the tones and timbre of any accepted input to shape the parameters of our synth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Roland Vocal Designer Model Expansion is included in the Roland Cloud Connect Pro membership and is also available as a Lifetime Key (one-time purchase) for $149. The video below demonstrates, somewhat vaguely, how our voices and synth could work together to create new tones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
