There are only 50 models of Fender\u2019s new Custom Shop LE Terry Kath Telecaster<\/a><\/strong><\/span> going on sale worldwide. It’s a recreation of the Chicago guitarist\u2019s heavily-customized original, reports Gear News<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original Terry Kath Telecaster became a heavily customized instrument, and the Fender Custom Shop has been on a mission to recreate each modification that it went through. The guitar is based on an original \u201852 Tele<\/strong> ash<\/strong> body in aged vintage white with a lacquer finish, as well as a custom \u201867 Tele maple<\/strong> neck with 21 frets<\/strong> and a vintage 7.25\u201d<\/strong> fretboard radius. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this awesome guitar comes the Fender Synchronized Stratocaster trem with a sawed-off Telecaster bridge plate, the Telecaster bridge pickup, and the humbucker in the neck. The pickups are all wired with custom routing and have a reverse control plate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

True to the original, there\u2019s also gaffer tape on the rear of the body to conceal the routing that the guitar had received. Other mods include a set of custom tuning machines and three \u201cwing\u201d string trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With only 50<\/strong> of these Custom Shop recreations available worldwide, they are aimed at collectors more than anyone else. After all, it’s a very specific instrument, and probably not for everyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
