ACE Studio describes their music suite as “the future of music production”, a pretty bold statement, I’m sure you’ll agree. But does this ambitious claim hold up? In this guide, we’ll take a closer look at this AI-powered toolkit and explore whether its features genuinely point toward what’s next for music creation.

What is ACE Studio

ACE Studio first entered the scene with a beta release in 2022, followed by a full stable launch in October 2023. While it was initially positioned as an AI-driven voice synthesiser, it has since expanded into a broader creative suite, incorporating a range of mostly AI-powered music and even video production tools.

Developed by Timedomain, a venture founded by three entrepreneurs with a deep passion for both tech and music, the platform aims to tackle one of AI’s long-standing creative challenges: unpredictability. Instead of relying on purely generative, often erratic outputs, ACE Studio is designed to give musicians and content creators greater control over how AI shapes their work.

A brief overview of features.

While ACE Studio’s powerful vocal synth is still its flagship feature, version 2.0 has grown to encompass a wide range of tools. Some are unique, and some are found elsewhere. Here’s a quick summary of all the current features:

  • AI Singing Voice Generator
  • midi-controlled AI instruments
  • Voice Changer
  • Voice Changer
  • Video composer
  • Video to music
  • Video to SFX
  • Text to samples
  • Stem Splitter
  • PDF to musicXML

ACE Studio’s core features in more depth

As the list above shows, ACE Studio offers a comprehensive suite of AI-powered tools. Let’s take a closer look at three of its most innovative and distinctive features.

AI Voice generation

If you’re after precise control over AI-generated vocals, ACE Studio offers a range of highly flexible solutions. Creating vocals that fit seamlessly into an existing track is often tricky with standard generative tools. Established platforms like Suno offer limited control. While you can create and layer vocals in their Suno Studio feature, exporting them cleanly as isolated tracks isn’t so straightforward. You still have to rely on stem splitters to extract vocals, which generally comes at the cost of audio quality.

ACE Studio takes a different approach. It allows you to generate isolated vocals using MIDI notation, text input, and detailed articulation controls. You can also guide the AI using your own voice recordings for a more personalised approach, or stick with standard text prompts if you prefer a quicker workflow.

Its standout feature is the MIDI-to-Vocal system. With access to over 140 AI-trained voices and the option to train your own custom voice, you can map melodies directly using MIDI notation. Just draw or import your notes, select a voice, and generate a performance. As long as the guide is well considered, the results can sound impressively natural. From there, you can fine-tune expression, adjust vibrato, and even layer multiple voices to create rich harmonies or full choir effects.

This level of hands-on control over AI vocals makes ACE Studio an attractive proposition for creators who are looking for a tool that can use AI to bring ‘their own’ ideas to life. For example, it’s the perfect tool for songwriters and choir masters to compose guide demos.

AI Instrument generation

Beyond vocals, ACE Studio also lets you transform simple MIDI notation into expressive, lifelike instrument performances. This unique approach offers a glimpse into what the next generation of music synthesis may look like. Instead of relying on traditional sample-based virtual instruments, where realism depends on carefully programming articulations and automation, ACE Studio analyses your MIDI data and then uses AI to interpret how a part would naturally be performed.

The results can be striking, particularly with instruments like violin, where performance phrasing and dynamics make a huge difference. The current instrument library is fairly limited and includes:

  • String section (violins, violas, cellos, bass) with multiple ensemble types and playing styles
  • Solo violin
  • Trumpet
  • Saxophone

More instruments, however, are promised, including slap bass, oboe, dizi, and suona, which should broaden its creative range even further.

Compared to conventional workflows, the biggest advantage here is speed and realism. You can achieve convincing performances almost instantly, without the painstaking MIDI fine-tuning typically required by sample libraries. That said, while the results are impressively natural, there can still be a subtle trace of that familiar “AI-generated” character, so it’s worth weighing realism against control depending on your project.

Finally, both vocal and instrument generation integrate smoothly into your existing DAW setup via the ACE Studio Bridge plugin, which loads just like any other plugin from your library.

Video Composer

ACE Studio is not just positioning itself as a music production tool, but also as a practical solution for filmmakers and content creators. It includes a built-in AI agent designed to generate royalty-free soundtracks and sound effects that adapt directly to your video content.

By analysing your edited footage, the system can structure both music and audio cues to match the pacing and flow of your project. You simply describe the mood or style you’re aiming for, and the AI generates tailored options that respond to the narrative of your edit. It can shape the soundtrack around emotional shifts in the scene, and often aligns musical accents with key edit points for a more natural, cinematic feel.

On top of this, ACE Studio’s full suite of AI voice tools can also be used within the same workspace, making it possible to add voiceovers alongside your music and sound design without needing to switch between applications.

ACE Studio: ethical AI?

One of the key debates around AI music tools, particularly prompt-based generative tools, centres on ethics. A common concern is whether these technologies reduce creative agency, as well as what data is being used to train the models.

Platforms like Suno and Udio have faced increasing scrutiny over the sources of their training data, with calls for greater transparency around how their models are built. In contrast, ACE Studio states that its vocal and instrument models are developed using recordings from their own singers and musicians. And while details are limited, there are indications that these contributors may even receive some form of royalties when their trained voices or models are used.

For its more generative features, however, such as video-based composition tools and text-to-sound generation, ACE Studio appears to rely on broader musical datasets to train its AI systems.

As with much of the AI music debate, the balance between innovation, creator control, and ethical training practices remains an evolving conversation where we are far from reaching a standard consensus.

Pricing

ACE Studio is clearly a powerful and comprehensive AI toolkit. The question of whether or not to take the plunge and sign up is, however, influenced by this pretty big factor. Although the platform displays a monthly cost, billing is actually annual. This is something that many online observers have highlighted as misleading. So, I had to get my calculator out to work out that, at this current time, the Artist plan is priced at $198.96 per year, while the Artist Pro plan costs $264 per year. There are no partial refunds if you cancel partway through the billing cycle, so it’s very important to consider the commitment before signing up.

That said, there is a welcome long-term option: if you subscribe for two years, you effectively gain lifetime ownership of the software along with future updates. This makes it a more favourable rent-to-own proposition

For those unsure about committing, there is a 7-day cancellation window that allows you to test the platform risk-free. While the absence of a true monthly subscription may be a drawback for many potential users, it’s a pricing approach that seems designed for committed long-term creators.
