ADPTR AUDIO SCULPT: Refine and Sculpt Audio Dynamics
SCULPT is the new dynamic plugin by ADPTR AUDIO. With four modules to shape different signal componets runing in parallel to one another, SCULPT has a lot to bring to the table.
The modules themselves inside SCULPT offer dynamic, tonal, and transient shaping for mixer channels, group buses and the master, reports Gear News.
SCULPT Your Sound
SCULT by ADPTR AUDIO houses four processors running in parallel to one another. Available are processors for a transparent upward compressor, a traditional downward compressor, and tonal & transient shapers.
So not only does it look super cool, but it lives up to its name. How so? Because SCULPT is for refining and/or adding, sculpting if you will, dynamics into your sound. Let’s go into more detail, shall we?
Firstly, module one dedicates itself to Upward Compression – transparent dynamic control. Secondly, we’ve got the Downward Compressor – a more conventional dynamics processor control. While those two are both compressors, the Tone SCULPT module works to accentuate or suppress individual aspects of your audio and Transient SCULPT plays with the onset of each sound – in effect, controlling its sonic envelope.
Each module has its own mute, solo and output meter so you can compare the dry and wet audio. Also available are frequency controls that allow you to change how SCULPT analyzes the incoming signal. These frequency controls operate a little differently within each module. For example, within the compressor modules, they act as sidechain EQ controls, as tonal balance controls within the Tone SCULPT module, and transient selection controls within the Transient SCULPT module too. Moreover, each module has low and high-shelf filters and a Spectrum Tilt EQ too.
The Tone SCULPT module has a tonal balance graph that displays the frequency balance of your tracks in real-time. It should be said that SCULPT doesn’t apply frequency-dependent processing. Rather, it the affects input gain of each sample for more transparent results.
To make SCULPT more responsive to dynamic processing and avoid distortion, SCULPT uses a proprietary Envelope Detection Algorithm that has been modelled after human hearing. Even with fast attack and release settings, you’ll find that SCULPT doesn’t give your audio dramatic pulses or distortion.
