Amazon Music introduce ‘DJ Mode’ – Makes Streaming more like DJ Hosted Radio
Today Amazon Music introduced in a press release, a new on-demand listening experience called DJ Mode, which blends music with commentary from artists, hosts and top DJs. Amazon Music hopes that they can bring all the benefits of a streaming platform in terms of the personalisation, control and breadth of catalogue and blend it with the personality of DJ-hosted radio.
Steve Boom, VP of Amazon Music – “We’re continuing to revolutionize how listeners experience music, and with DJ Mode we’re combining the best of streaming and traditional radio. With DJ Mode, fans can stream music selected just for them, while enjoying the personality of DJ-hosted radio. We’re also delighted that Billie Eilish is behind our first-ever artist-led DJ Mode experience, which gives fans access to her musical tastes and storytelling, hosted by one of the most innovative artists in the world.”
From today, listeners in the US are able to opt-in for DJ Mode on three of Amazon Music’s top stations – Rap Rotation, Country Heat and All Hits (with more to follow). The stations include song selection and sequencing based on listener tastes, and music commentary and storytelling that evolve with each listen as new music is released.
The first ever artist-led DJ mode, which is available now is The Billie Eilish Takeover, where Billie will share behind the scene insights and stories alongside her favourite songs.
