Universal Audio has announced their new line of interfaces and boy are we excited!

If UA’s goal was to design an audio interface that paid homage to the analog days, they have done a magnificent job. The wooden side enclosures, a design that screams “bleep bloop” and is incredibly stylish – these interfaces will look fantastic no matter what studio they’re in.

But there’s more than just appearances that describe it as a retro design.

The Volt interface series presents interfaces with the infamous analog 76 compressor as well as emulated circuits that call to a time of classic tube console preamps.

The series consists of five models. All of the interfaces include the renowned Vintage Preamp feature, but only models with ‘76’ in their name include the analog compressor.

Based on the famous 1176 compressor, the 76 compressor circuitry is fully analog and packs presets that instantly add more clarity and punch.

Volt 1 and Volt 176 have only a single input and two outputs, but Volt 2 and Volt 276 models have two inputs and two outputs.

However, the big brother of these is Volt 476.

This whopper features four inputs as well as four outputs – and has a separate mains power supply.

Modelled after UA’s 610 tube console preamp, the Vintage Preamp mode is optional to be a secondary voice option to add rich harmonic tones to vocals and instruments.

MusicTech featured a quote from UA that described how the design will “allows users to dial in rich, full sound on vocals and instruments.”

The interfaces bring independent phantom power, direct-input monitoring as well as input and output metering! That’s right, you can monitor your signal at every stage through the interface!

A software bundle including Ableton Live Lite, UJAM’s Virtual Drummer, Celemony’s Melodyne, and so much more is available to you. Accessing the included software, instruments and plug-ins are as easy as registering your Volt interface with the UA Connect companion app!

Recording resolutions at 24-bit/192kHz offer room between the noise floor and dBFS ceiling ample recording on Mac, PC, iPad and iPhone!

Now available for pre-order, The Volt series interfaces will launch in late November at price points between $139 to $369.

As an extra goody, the Volt 2 and Volt 276 are also going to be available in a Studio Pack! A bundle that includes a condenser mic, XLR cable, and closed-back headphones!
