Drum synthesisers aren’t a new product in the music production world, but the way in which Baby Audio have approached the design of this plugin is a little different.

What is Baby Audio Tekno?

Baby Audio have gone out with the intention to reimagine the legendary drum machines that shaped music culture, and bring that into the 21st Century. To achieve this, they teamed up with Jatin Chowdhury, one of the leading engineers in analog circuit modeling technology. It utilizes a combination of circuit-modeling and cutting edge DSP to deliver the punchiest synthesized drums ever put in a plugin.

The idea here is to produce your drums without using samples, with the aim of getting you out of endlessly browsing for the perfect sample, and instead, providing a way to create your own electronic drum sound, with total user control.

Features

There are 18 fully synthesised drum engines inside of Tekno; from kicks, snares, clap, hats, percussion and more. The combination of which gives you the ability to craft fully custom drum kits full of analog flavour and punch.

Use a MIDI sequence to trigger the sounds inside Tekno, or drag and drop the sounds into your DAW for external sequencing.

Go as deep as you like – Go deep with each synth voice by clicking the gear icon next to it to unlock deep calibration and circuit-bending options. Alternatively, hit the dice icons to let the smart random algorithm inside of Tekno generate all-new drums with each click.

Tekno comes with 73 global presets and 1,314 individual voice presets crafted by world-leading sound designers such as Richard Devine, Mr. Bill, Virtual Riot and Yoad Nevo.

Tekno uses complex non-linear VA circuits to synthesise sound, this means that the sounds generally don’t hit exactly the same way twice, a quality that Baby Audio wanted to keep from the classic analog drum machine counterparts that party inspired Tekno.

Tekno features a range of onboard analog-modeled effects, including tape saturation, excitation, and compression. It also has a limiter/clipper combo, ring mod and reverb.
