Baby Audio just rolled out an update for their newest and most popular products, Tekno. It’s a significant step forward, for what was already a powerful tool as it introduces a built-in sequencer alongside a set of workflow and routing improvements. this makes Tekno a much more complete drum production studio rather than just a sound generator.

Built in sequencer

You can now program your drum patterns in the built-in full features sequencer, without having to program you midid clips in-DAW.

Each drum voice has a unique lane, with step-based editing, probability, polyrhythmic options, and smart randomisation. This provides the ability for quick idea generation alongside traditional programming, making it easy to move from rigid techno grooves to more organic, evolving rhythms in a flash.

Workflow improvements

Baby Audio also updated the usability of the plugin:

  • Global undo / redo, so experimentation feels risk-free
  • MIDI learn and flexible mapping for hands-on control
  • Per-voice humanise and randomisation locks, letting you add movement without destroying your core groove
  • Choke groups, ideal for realistic hi-hat behaviour and tighter rhythmic control

The focus here was friction reduction, particularly when quickly sketching ideas or live edits.

Routing and export

Improvements on how Tekno fits into larger projects:

  • Full kit sample export, allowing you to bounce your synthesised drums to audio for further processing
  • Dedicated reverb bus when using multi-output mode, keeping mixes cleaner and more flexible

This makes Tekno easier to integrate into both fast demo workflows and more detailed, mix-focused sessions.

Final thoughts

These are fundamental changes to way Tekno functions and how you interact with it, blurring the line between instrument and groove-box.
