Amazon has recently announced the release of their latest digital product: Amp.

You’ve heard of podcasts. Now get ready for Amp: a platform where you can create and DJ your own live radio shows. Amazon Amp is a social app that’s entirely audio-based. So if you’ve ever dreamed of creating your own radio show – now is your chance!

Amazon Amp has a focus creator-driven content, and it differentiates itself from live audio apps like Twitter Spaces with its focus on music-sharing and discovery.

Amp encourages you to become the DJ of your own online broadcast radio shows. As a host, you can create live playlists for your listeners while they can call in just like a traditional radio show. Hosts have access to the huge catalogue of “tens of millions of licensed songs” in the Amazon Music library, and any song can be played in real-time during a show.

As we mentioned, hosts can invite live callers and have full control over who speaks and when. Listeners only have to call in when the show is on air to interact with the DJ and other callers on air. Additionally, hosts can see who is listening in real-time! What’s truly cool, though, is how no subscription is necessary to tune in. It’s completely free to use!

Amazon Amp has booked a few upcoming radio shows that feature big names like Nicki Minaj, Pusha T, Travis Barker and Zach Sang, and more!

Amp is currently only available on iOS in the U.S. To gain access, you’ll need an access code. But Amazon has said that more features are on their way to Amp. These include Alexa integrations, social sharing and search and discovery features! With the focus of Amp being solely music, its priority is to make a user’s search and discovery of music as easy as possible.

Soon, you’ll be able to follow your favourite creators and receive notifications for their upcoming shows!
