How to Contact Influencers to Sell Your Sample Packs
To give your sample pack, and therefore your brand or producer alias, the furthest reach – sometimes you need to be selfless. Being selfless in this way will make its way back around to you. An example of this may be seing your samples being used by your local producer network and also externally because you’re increasing word of mouth. Ask anyone who accepts your pack to make a track with the samples inside and see what they can come up with!
Contacting YouTube Influencers
getting in contact with any influencers you know or are aware of is a great way to get your product noticed by the international music community. It’s great to contact influencers, but hitting up smaller influencers may have a better success rate.
When contacting an influencer it’s critical that you do your research on them.
What are their real names? What content do they make? Is it relevant to your pack?
The next important thing is to be aware of how you should contact an influencer. We’ll explain why shortly, but here’s an example of a template that could be great to use!
Hey, [insert influencers real name if you can find it]! Their real name is very important to the email, it tells them you have done your research.
I hope everything is going well with you and the [channel name] channel.
I have seen that you [insert description of video content they have produced and you have watched] and I thoroughly enjoyed your content. This is important – it tells them you take an interest in their content
My name is [your real name] and I am a [insert genre, style or theme] producer.
I am in the process of marketing my [pack name] sample pack, and I was wondering if you would like to have it for free?
This includes:
– SummariseContent
– SummariseContent
– SummariseContent
I have already had a number of music producers go through the pack and they are loving the content.
However, if you would prefer something else, other packs I have made are:
– List another pack (if you have one)
– List another pack (if you have one)
I have a wide range of packs that include [sample type], [sample type] to [sample type] that I think you would find valuable.
I would love to know your thoughts about having the [pack name] sample pack.
However, if you’re not interested in these samples, that is no problem. If you are interested, here is a demo of the pack.
[Insert a private Soundcloud or Mix Cloud link to your demo]
Thank you for reading,
[Your name]
The approach here is relationship building. Make sure you don’t make it about you – even though it is. If you want an influencer to take you seriously, let them come to you. Don’t throw everything about you at them.
If they reply, send them the pack and a link to your Soundcloud or Spotify page too. Ask them if they will review your samples or even make a track out of them. If they agree, ask them to post the track and mention and tag your sample pack. You may have to pay for these services – but think of it as an investment. There could be big returns!
If they don’t reply, send a follow-up email no earlier than 3 days later. Something like this:
Hello again, [insert influencers real name]!
I know you’re pretty busy, so I’m just making sure this didn’t get buried.
The offer that I mentioned in my previous email still stands if you are interested.
Have a great day, [insert influencers real name]!
Best wishes,
If they don’t reply to that, send them the first template to their Instagram DM’s.
However, add a simple message at the top like “I sent this to your email address a few days ago, but you seem pretty busy. So I thought I would send it to you on Instagram.“
And, again, send the follow-up email to their Instagram DM’s if they don’t reply to the first DM.
If they don’t reply to any of these messages, that’s okay. Influencers are busy people and it’s not always a deliberate action on their part.
It’s important not to be discouraged if they don’t reply too. Don’t feel like you’re harassing them. In total, you’ve sent 4 messages, and 2 are copies. If they aren’t interested all they will do is not read the messages.
Conclusion
YouTube influencers are fantastic for education, for finding new music, and for spreading awareness of your brand!
Be aware of what influencers operate in your field and begin building relationships. This is a slow process and you probably won’t get a great result at first. Start off by contacting smaller influencers for a higher chance of a good result! But the more you do it, the more content you offer and the more reputation you build will add up to a higher success rate!
