With just two joysticks, Game Cat Synth creates randomised glitchy sounds full of creative potential, reports MusicTech.

Game Cat Synth by Error Instrument, Source: Error Instrument

Error Instrument found inspiration in old game consoles and even a black cat for the design of Game Cat. As for the sound of the synth, the classic sounds of Arcade, NES, SID, and more are at the top of the inspiration list.

The inner workings of Game Cat have intentionally been kept a secret by Error Instrument, but they claim that there are many sweet spots to hit with just a twiddle of the two thumb-sticks. We can also find two potentiometers for adjusting pitch and moving through presets as well as a USB port for power and a mini-jack line output.

Below you can find Error Cat’s demo video for the synth. You can see all the features in action. The Game Cat Synth is available now in select regions of the world for €120.
