Spotify’s DJ feature, launched in 2023, became popular with users thanks to its AI-driven recommendations and ‘host-style’ commentary. Today, they’ve provided the ability to make voice requests, which adds another layer of personalisation to the experience.

Making a request is just as easy as asking a real-life DJ. Simply ask for music based on your mood, activity, or even by artist, album, genre, or decade.

The feature is available for all premium users, and making requests is easy (English only at launch):

1. Open the Spotify app and head to the Search tab.
2. Search for ‘DJ’ and press play.
3. Hold down the DJ button in the right-hand corner until you hear a beep and see “listening” appear on your screen.
4. Speak your request- the more specific you can be, the better. The DJ will serve a tailored line-up matched with commentary.
5. Fancy a change? Just press and hold the DJ button again to make a new request.
