Before diving into the latest instalment of Native Instruments’ flagship Komplete collection, it’s worth remembering that only a few months ago the company entered preliminary insolvency proceedings. This was seen as surprising news for a brand long regarded as an industry leader. At the time, NI reassured users that product development and support would continue unaffected, and the announcement of Komplete 26 suggests that promise has indeed held true.

Financial difficulties aside, lets turn our attention to what new tools, sounds and creative possibilities this latest collection brings to the producer community.

The Komplete Legacy

So, for those unfamiliar, what exactly is Komplete? As the name suggests, it was designed to be a complete all-in-one toolkit for in-the-box producers, providing everything needed to compose and mix across a wide range of musical styles. When Native Instruments first launched Komplete 1 in 2003, this approach was fairly revolutionary. Since then, the company has steadily expanded the range to include an extensive catalogue of synths, virtual instruments, and effects. Today, NI are up to Komplete 26 (although it has skipped from 15 to 26) with the Collector’s Edition now boasting over 340 products. It’s fair to say that Komplete still represents one of the most inclusive and popular collections of producer tools available.

3 levels of Komplete

As always Native instruments offers varying levels of Kompleteness: the entry-level Standard edition, followed by Ultimate, and then the Collector’s Edition for true Kompletists. This familiar approach accommodates various budgets and demands well. You also have the option to upgrade from older versions of Komplete. Whichever version you choose, you’re guaranteed a Komprehensive collection that spans a wide range of styles, demands and workflows.(sorry, I’ll stop capitalising with a K now)

With that in mind, let’s take a brief look at the new additions in Komplete 26.
